Today's Featured Biography
Stanley Vandersall
I was born in Sioux City, IA and have now lived near there in Orange City(42 Miles away)since 1981. As a teacher my Dad, James,taught in Anthon and Denison, IA and then moved to DraytonPlains in 1941 where he taught until 1954. After attending Clintonville School and Waterford Township Schools until that time, we then moved to Grand Rapids Mich.where I attended Creston Hi for my Jr. and Sr. years.
The Presbyterian Church of Drayton had its impact on me, and I attended Sterling College, KS as a result. I met my wife there and we married after graduation in 1961. After that it was Western Seminary in Holland, MI.and the Reformed Church ministry. I have served churches in Amsterdam, NY; Brooklyn, OH; and Des Moines, IA. From 1981-2001 I worked for the Regional Synod office of the Reformed Church out of Orange City, IA. Since retirement, I have served as an interim pastor in four different congregations.
We have eight grandchildren in far off places like Pasadena,CA; Portland, OR; and Cedar Rapids, IA. We have learned to travel whenever we want to see them.
My wife,Marietta, has had a kidney transplant since 1983. She is doing well and keeps quite active after 24 years with this health concern. She is an avid quilter, knitter, mentor, and church elder.
We are regular golfers at our local golf course. We own an RV and do camping with our family. We spend at least one month a year in Mesa,AZ. I enjoy home remodeling and am restoring a 1939 Ford.
