Edward Zahniser

Ed Zahniser has lived in Shepherdstown, West (By God) Virginia since 1977 and has worked since then for the National Park Service Center for Media Services in Harpers Ferry. (See spouse and children above.) He is also active in the local and regional literary scene as a poet. Over the years he has organized three gallery shows of poetry as works on walls, worked on the organizing committee of the Sotto Voce Poetry Festival in Shepherdstown, organized the annual poetry fundraiser for the Friends of the Shepherdstown Library, led the Shaharazade Exotic Tea Room monthly open-microphone poetry readings, been a charter member of the Bookend Poets monthly open-format workshop, organized poetry fundraisers and events for the Contemporary Gallery of the Arts in Hagerstown, and been active in West Virginia Writers, Inc. Ed's poems have appeared in over 70 magazines in the U.S. and U.K., seven anthologies, two chapbooks, and three literary press books, the lastest being Mall-hopping with the Great I AM (Somondoco Press, 2006). Ed and Christine have two grandsons, Jason Patrick Duewel-Zahniser and Alex Edward Duewel-Zahniser, who fortunately live only 9 miles from Shepherdstown at present. Their dad Justin works in Gaithersburg, Md. and their mom Lacy will attend Baltimore Hebrew University graduate school this fall. Ed and Chris's son Eric graduated from Shepherd University in December 2007 and works as a loan analyst for Jefferson Security Bank in Shepherdstown.
