Today's Featured Biography
Brandy Rome Ney
After high school, I went to FHSU for a year. Then I decided on EMT school instead of college and got married. I ended up finishing my Paramedic and worked for several years here in Russell for the EMS service. Merl was accepted on the Highway Patrol, and we moved to Dodge City in 1996. While there, I worked for the SRS as a Child Support collection officer. We stayed long enough to have two girls and decided we wanted them to go to smaller schools with less gang activity, so Merl took a transfer back to Russell in 2003. We built a house out by Milberger and I once again went back to work for EMS. After about three years of that, my constant aching back and sad family (I was on call or working about 96 hours a week) told me it was time to give up the job. I took a job with Health-E-Quip in Russell which I truly loved until they closed the store and I was laid off. I have since found a job in Hays working as a patient care coordinator for a dentist. The drive gets long, but it's o.k. I also go to school full time at FHSU finishing a degree in organizational leadership. Yes, I know I'm old and should have done this a long time ago, believe me, when I had to take the college's sex ed course, I quickly figured this out!! This is all on-line so I work it in after the girls go to bed and on weekends.
My girls are very active in 4-H and dance. Shannon is in sixth grade and is on student council and does whatever else she can sign up for. She loves to sing and is now trying her hand at the trumpet, lord have mercy. She is always busy with something! She is into showing cattle and just bought her first purebred show heifer. She has a couple steers to show as well. Shelby is in second grade and loves to draw and read and play with all our farm pets which is just cats, dogs, and cows. She has her own cows and names each and every one. She has a Dora, Cinnamon and if I go on I'll probably get it wrong or mixed up with her sister's and then I'll catch heck. She is the one my mother threatened me with so many, many times growing up.
Merl and I will be celebrating our 18th anniversary the weekend of the reunion so unless he takes me to some exotic far away place, we'll see you in Russell!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
