After nearly one year of searching for lost classmates, (and losing some we had found), we are pleased to extend the OFFICIAL INVITATION for you and your spouse or significant other to join us in celebration of the fortieth anniversary of our graduation from Russell High School.

Festivities begin at 6:00 Friday evening, July 24th as we congregate at Waudby’s downtown for a meet and greet, unofficial registration, and kickoff party that will include appetizers, dinner and drinks(we will purchase a keg and you buy your own dinner and any additional drinks) and will adjourn later (appx 9:00) to the Log Cabin.

Saturday morning there is a Dutch brunch at Meridy’s from 10:30 until 12:00. Unescorted tours of both the junior high (12:00) and the high school (1:00) are available. Afterwards, we will meet at the Dream Theater (2:30) for a multi-media trip down memory lane composed and emceed by Roxie Rein Wilkins! Evening activities will commence at 6:00 with a cocktail hour at Lasada, a private club south of town. There are eight rooms available at the lodge (www.lasada.com) if you would prefer to stay there. Dinner, appetizers, keg of beer, and bar set up will be paid for (otherwise BYOB); games and reconnecting with old friends will take the party late into the night. Ipod music and dance afterward at the pavilion. A short business meeting and silent auction to subsidize a memorial flower fund will precede the fun. We are soliciting contributions for the silent auction!

Sunday morning there is golf for the early risers at 7:00 AM and at 11:00 until 2:00 is scheduled for a picnic lunch )at the Southside Park across from the Bickerdyke schoole) as we say goodbye to those who are traveling back to their adopted home towns.

There is a block of rooms which are available for your reservation at the Americinn at 1430 South Fossil Street. The telephone number is 785-483-4200. There are 20 rooms availabe at $79.95 per room.

The registration fee for single attendees is $40 and $70 for couples. After 6/15/09, the fee is $50 singles and $80 couples. The fee covers Friday’s registration party (appetizers only), facility usage for the Dream Theater, dinner and party supplies Saturday evening, and the Sunday picnic. Checks should be made payable to RHS Class of 1969.

All questions, commitments and fees or regrets should be sent to:

      Today's Featured Biography

           Lindy Thompson

As promised, here is my story: After leaving Russell High, I attended Oklahoma State University and received my Bachelor's in Sociology. I got married to Jeanne Peek who I met at OSU and went on to graduate school at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas, where I also worked for the Texas Department of Corrections.
After receiving my Master's in Criminology, I went back to Oklahoma and worked in the juvenile justice system for 29 years. I had two sons, Greg and David, now a whopping 28 and 33 years old. My first wife Jeanne died in a car accident in 1986 and I was a single father for awhile.

I then met my lovely wife Donna, who had two daughters, Lisa and Susan and we can tell you many stories about blending families and all the associated trials and tribulations. Through it all, we are much stronger people today and are happy to report that all have left the nest and making it on their own. Lisa gave birth to our twin grandsons three and 1/2 years ago and we are also proud grandparents now!

My mother passed away a few years ago of a stroke, but my dad, Fred L, Sr, is 80 and still living on his own, cooking, driving and taking care of himself. After I retired from the state, I was off a year, but got bored and went back to work as a grant writer for Family & Children's Services in Tulsa, a large nonprofit family and mental health agency. Maybe I will retire again in a few years!!

I had a great time at the 40th reunion and was thrilled to see everyone! I wish you all well and hope to see you again for the 45th reunion!!

 Lindy
