Terry Batt
Hey, Everyone! Well, a lot has happened in 20 years. I went to Fort Hays, graduated with a BBA in Finance and Marketing and minors in German and Econ. I lived in Wichita for 9 years and worked for Koch Oil. Then, I took an offer with a company in Phoenix and moved there. It was too damn hot, and I couldn't wait to get home. Then, just one year later, I was recruited by Aquila Energy in Kansas City. I moved back here, was the Director of Trade Finance for them until the Enron scandal in 2001 forced most of the oil & gas trading houses to close. After that, I accepted the position of Director of Corporate Finance at Gear for Sports, Inc., which is the owner of Champion sportswear. After working in the apparel business for four years (and really wanting to get back in the oil & gas business), I accepted a position in January, 2007 as Vice President of Legal & Finance for Kansas Energy here in KC. It's funny, as I remember Roy Miller telling us that we'd never just work for one company. I thought he was full of it, but I've already worked for five companies. I live in south Overland Park now, have season tickets to the Royals (funny, they didn't SUCK 20 years ago!), travel some, work on the house and the yard, and generally wonder where all the time has gone! I still try to get out and play golf on occasion (although, I'd do anything to switch my bowling score and golf score around). I am also currently writing a pictorial history on the Volga Germans in Russell and Bender Hill, which consumes a great deal of my time. I've been working on this book for about 2.5 years now, and it's become a labor of love. I hope to have it finished and published before Christmas this year ('07).
