Today's Featured Biography
Kris Corley Haaland
I graduated from EIU in 1974, and married that same year. We moved to Glenwood, Illinois in 1976. I had my son Joshua in 1982 and divorced in 1986. I became a RE broker at that time and worked for Century 21 and RE/MAX. I married my current husband Jon in 1988, and we moved to Grant Park, Illinois, which is a small town northeast of Kankakee (we do not live in the band shell in Chicago's Grant Park.) My daughter Lindsay was born in 1991. I was a stay at home mom until she entered school, and at that time I became a Librarian for Grant Park CUSD.
I'm still at the MS/HS library, but also teach MS computer. I received my M. ED. from Olivet Nazarene University (2006) and still maintain my broker's license, if I ever want to dabble in the housing market again. I have been on every committee in school: Technology, School Improvement. PBIS, Focus Mentoring and various class sponsors. I have been Spelling, Scholastic Bowl, and Cheerleading coach. Lindsay has been a cheerleader thought MS/HS, so for two years I was forced into that position. I am so glad the squad was self-sufficient. I have decided to slow down this year, hope it that happens.
Josh works for CBI in Bounbonnais and has his own apartment. Lindsay is going to graduate this year (2009) from GPS and plans to go into the dental field starting at Parkland Jr. College. I can't imagine this time next year, we could be empty nesters(except for our little white Maltese, Lily.) Many of you are already, how is it?
I still visit Decatur because my brother and nephew live there. I love to attend the Decatur Celebration. Sometimes wonder if I walk past people I know because let's face it, we've all changed. Hope to be there this year. If by chance we meet, I hope we can chat.
