Howdy, friends - 40 years - it sure does not seem possible that much time has passed.
I am enjoying being a grandma and retired.
I have two fantastic grandchildren (Ty & Haley). My daughter, Tiffany, is expecting another boy in late June. So if I am not at the reunion it will be because of the new baby! They all live within a half hour of me, so I get to see them often.
Some of you may know that the year after high school graduation, I married my high school sweetheart, Ron Jahr. He graduated from Purdue University in 1969 in electrical engineering. We then moved to Springfield, IL. Regrettably, we divorced in 1972.
I married Gary Skrynek in 1976. My wonderful daughter, Tiffany, was born in 1978. Unfortunately, Gary died in 1982.
I met my present husband, Roger, at the horse barn where we were both boarding our quarterhorses. My childhood dream had been to have a horse.
I now live on a ten acre horse farm in rural New Berlin, IL, which is halfway between Springfield and Jacksonville. We have five cutting horses, four of which we have bred and raised ourselves. We also share the farm with five barn cats, one 21 year old indoor cat and two full size collies. Our home is a restored 1847 farmhouse.
I graduated from Sangamon State University (now the University of IL at Springfield - UIS).
I have been retired from the IL State Police for three and a half years. I started working for the State of IL in 1972 at the Department of Conservation (now Department of Natural Resources). In 1980 I took a promotion to the IL State Police. I took a five year early retirement offer and left with over 35 years of service. Retiring was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
My folks still live in Decatur and I visit them often.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion activities.
