Janet Quick Mansfield
Wow! I can't believe so much time has passed! Steve (class of 66) and I have just moved to a new home in Elburn, IL after living in Bartlett, a Chicago suburb, for the last 32 years, and are still in "move mode" so will be unable to attend the reunion. We regret missing the opportunity to visit with so many old friends.
Steve and I have been married for 39 years and have 2 wonderful daughters and 3 very special, in our opinion, grandchildren. Stephanie, husband Mike, and their children - Nate (16), Jake (11), and Kate Lynn (4) live in the Rockford, IL area. Cara shares our home with her 3 dogs (2 goldens and a doberman) and 2 cats.
Stephanie graduated from Elmhust College with a BA in Elementary Ed but has opted to be a "stay at home" mom. What with school, preschool, sports, and all the activities young people are involved with these days I don't believe she stays home very much! Her husband, Mike, is a very talented carpenter and has just finished building our new home in Elburn. Though Steve & I acted as our own general contractors, we could not have done it without Mike.
Cara has an Associates degree and works for a building supply company as an estimator. She, too, was a great help during our home building adventure!
I attended Milliken Univ, EIU, and NIU - graduated from NIU with a BS in Elementary Education. Teaching was really not my thing so I went into the real estate field both as a sales person and later as a Relocation Coordinator for Merrill Lynch. I now work for a manufacturers rep and distributor for the steel, tubing, and tool & die industries.
Steve was in education - both as a teacher and an administrator - for 31 years before taking early retirement in 2001. He then began his second career as a financial adviser with AG Edwards with absolutely no plans to retire!
Steve & I enjoy spending as much time as possible with our children and grandchildren. We enjoy traveling and just hanging out together, though I still enjoy curling up with a good book about as much as anything!
