Today's Featured Biography
Harvey Warnick
After graduation I attended EIU and Lakeland Community College before joining the US Army in 1969. II spent not quite 3 years at Ft. Leonard Wood MO; Ft. Lee in VA.; and little over 1 year "enjoying" an all expenses paid trip to Southeast Asia. I went to work at Wagner Castings in 1972 for 23 years and have been working in foundries ever since. I have spent most of the last 30 years working as a Metallurgist or manager.
Met a girl from Pana (Joyce)in April, 1973 and we have been married since Nov. 10th, 1973. Joyce worked as a Respiratory Therapist at DMH for 13 years and in medical clinics at McConnell AFB in Wichita, and Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE. We have moved all over the country as the foundry industry gets smaller - 8 times (10 foundries) in the last 22 years.
We have 2 children - Michael (41)lives in Decatur; Kelly lives (38) in Wichita, KS. We have 2 grand children - Shelby - 19 and Kelsey who will be almost 4 months old in September.
I am planning on retiring at the end of this year, 40+ years of foundry life is enough. Joyce and I are planning to relocate to the Wichita area to use as a home base. Travel is in our future - mainly within the US to re-visit places we have been long ago and to places we haven't been to. I plan to continue working on our family trees and try to pick up drawing and painting again. We get back to Decatur 3 or 4 times a year to see our son and friends with mandatory stops at Del's Popcorn Shop and Monical's Pizza .
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
