Today's Featured Biography
Kaarin Neves Engelmann
I went to Brigham Young University right after high school, which is where I met my husband Karsten during my second semester. (It was his 10th semester.) We married about a year later. In the meantime, I finished a third semester at BYU and then transferred to the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where he was living. I wrote for the student newspaper there and took classes for a semester and a summer. Then, I transferred to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virgnia, which is where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication in December 1990.
My first job after college was as associate editor for Electrical Contractor magazine, a trade journal. That job has affected much of my subsequent career, as I still do work for NECA (electrical contractors association) and the fellow who was my publisher then has put me in touch with many of my current clients. (I'm a freelance writer and editor.)
We currently (2017) live in Springfield, VA, after several years overseas with my husband's work.
I like to play boardgames, and as a result, I help organize a couple of gaming conventions, including the World Boardgaming Championships. I also love to travel I've been to most of Europe, much of Central America, a bit of North Africa and the Middle East, and a little beyond--but not much of the Far East, yet. I hope to have many more trips in me. I still enjoy photography and bicycling.
