Kenneth Chavez

I can't believe it has been 41 years since we all graduated!! Time flew by way too fast!

As of February, I have worked at the Denver Police Department for 38 years.

My career with the DPD has been very enjoyable and exciting. I have had the opportunity to work in some great assignments to include Vice/Narcotics, Homicide, SWAT, Intelligence, Gang Bureau, and Airport Police. Our local media has unfortunately made it a point to report on my career from time to time. Currently I am a Lieutenant assigned to the District Five Station at Peoria & I-70. I work the day shift so if you are close by, please stop by and say Hi.

On Veterans Day, 2016, I retired after 36 years of service in the Colorado Army National Guard My entire career in the Colorado Army National Guard has been with the Special Forces. I have had the opportunity to see a great deal of the world, spending most of my time in Southeast Asia. I have participated in four Combat tours (six months in 1995 in Haiti, Afghanistan 2002-2003, Iraq 2007-2008, and most recently the entire year of 2014 back in Afghanistan). I retired at the rank of Colonel and last served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Intelligence (G2) for Colorado.

In my two careers, I have unfortunately seen the worst man can do to his fellow man, both in this county and abroad. But I feel that we can make a difference if we just try, one person at a time. Though nothing shocks me today, I look for some piece of good in all things I encounter.

I waited a long time to have children and now have two great kids. But my two careers took me away from them from time to time. Now that I have finished my last combat tour, I want to spend more quality time with them and my wife, Amy
