Today's Featured Biography
Cathy Reynolds Hildebrand
After high school I attended Chico State. Even though I was a Christian in high school, I lost my way the first year and a half of college. In 1974 I returned to believing in Jesus, and this changed me and my life completely. I met David that same year and we were married about two years later. I received a degree in Spanish in 1976. We had three children in 1977, 1978, and 1981 (two girls and a boy).
While being a stay-at-home mom for ten years, I worked as an instructional assistant in my kids' school and then later had a licensed home day care. My husband who became an ordained minister with the A/G and I were in Christian ministry that whole time. I attended a correspondence Bible school in the early 80's and was ordained with the A/G in 1984.
In 1987, our lives took a dramatic turn when no ministry jobs were available. We moved to LA where I worked as a bilingual elementary school teacher and my husband began to develop a new career as a financial planner.
One year of LA was all we could take and back we moved to the Bay Area in 1988. Again our lives took a dramatic change as we realized we had become very legalistic in our relationship with God. He began to teach us about His love and grace. During that time I continued to teach in elementary school and then in high school as a Spanish teacher. I even taught at Vallejo High for one year. My teaching "career" only lasted 12 years.
Our kids grew up, got married, and have given us eight darling grandchildren; four girls and four boys; and according to them, they plan on giving us more! Hooray!
In 2009, we felt directed to begin a teaching ministry we call "Studies in Grace and Faith". It is for Christians who are longing for the joy they knew "the hour they first believed", who still love Jesus, but find the religion of Christianity a heavy burden to bear. We meet in homes and share God's amazing grace with His beloved children. Our website is http://www.graceandfaithministries.org.
I wish I could have heard everyone's biography while at the reunion, but there is so little time at events like that.
