CLASSREPORT BIOGRAPHY
After graduation (having been in the U.S. Army Reserve since my Hogan Jr. High days 1956) I was ordered to report for active duty at Fort Ord near Monterey Ca. and Interestingly I happened to serve there with two of our fellow graduating class mates, Bruce Frew & Walter Tolliver. After basic and advanced training I returned to Vallejo and served out the remaining time of my eight year obligation in the Army Reserve.
In 1959 I was employed in Vallejo by the National Cash Register Co.( which later became the N.C.R. Corp. a multi-national corporation.) located in Dayton Ohio. I attended their various training schools one in Dayton, Hartford Connecticut, and Denver Colorado, along with some T. D. Y.’s at Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
I worked the Vallejo N C R office for thirteen years before I was transferred to Spokane Wa. for a year. From there I went to the San Bernardino branch where I worked for the next ten years.
Then in 1981 while in San Bernardino and after twenty four years at N C R, a local grocery store chain ( Stater Bros. Markets with 110 stores) wanted to start-up their own in-house service/repair department. So they pirated myself and three other personal away from N C R and we formed the Store Systems Department. We were responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing hardware and software ( Office computers terminals, scanners, scales etc.) through out the chain.
After 47 years in the business ( 23 @ N C R, and 24 @ Stater’s ) I retired in June 2005.
Then finally I was able to catch up on about 5 yrs. of (past due)honey do’s. Carolyn and I traveled a little but I got bored. I went online and applied for a position at Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets. They hired me for the Riverside store where I worked for about nine months. In Sept. 2008 they opened a new store in Fontana, Ca. where I became an assistant manager.
My wife Carolyn came out retirement(Mervyn’s yrs.ago)and worked at Fresh & Easy at the Yucaipa Ca. store.
We’re both finally retired in 2010. We've been married for 41 years. With her’s, mine, and our’s, we have 6 children all listed above. 17 grandchildren, and 2 great children. Our family is our main interest and keeping us residing in San Bernardino California.
If real estate picks up maybe some day we will move to San Diego.
