Dennis Marble

Served in the elite Army Rangers LRRP and was honor graduate of Special Forces Reconnaissance Commando school. Served one tour in Vietnam.

Upon returning I started the band Mother Goose and played in many bands over the years. Worked at National Auto Parts and eventually owned the machine shop. Met and married Shannon Crutcher. Attended UC Berkeley for teaching credential setting an academic record and was guest speaker to graduating class in 1974.

Left Vallejo in 1980 with Shannon and kids and moved to our very secluded 130 acre farm in TN. It took a year for me to build our house while we camped out and learned to live with an outhouse and without running water. California hippies all the way! We grew our food, canned and dried it and learned a lot about living remotely in the beautiful backwoods of TN. We had creeks, streams, waterfalls, pond, caves and lots of animal life. Our land was bordered by a state park on 3 sides and we were only 10 miles from one of the cleanest lakes in the south. I seriously learned how to handle farm equipment and how to heat with wood. After building the house I started Mill Creek Woodwork on the 2nd story on our large barn making custom wood products sold at craft shows and other outlets.

Fun but I wanted more so I started a very successful business selling machine shop equipment in 5 states and later began doing engineering/design work for some of the manufacturers. Eventually, we moved to Bowling Green, KY and later to St. Louis, MO when I became Product Manager for domestic and international markets for the world leading manufacture of machining equipment.

I traveled extensively overseas to develop markets, demonstrate new products, train distributors and speak at engineering conferences and trade shows in 18 countries. I spent a great deal of time overseas and enjoyed it but the air travel did take a toll (22 hour flights to South Africa were tough even in business class).

Shannon and I are now retired living on our land near Bowling Green KY. I enjoy fishing, bike riding, hiking, shooting my guns and most of all my grand-kids and my dog. Certainly, through the years music has remained one of the most important aspects of our life. We are only 45 minutes from Nashville and often take advantage of its lively music scene. Our kids grew up with Shannon and I playing music and they all became involved themselves.

We really love living in the beautiful state of Kentucky with conservative values, abundant wildlife, lakes, rivers, caves and country to explore. I'm fortunate to have been a very driven person blessed with a challenging, educational and rewarding life.

Update: Unfortunately, my exposure to Agent Orange in Viet Nam has more recently affected my quality of life due to several autoimmune diseases and multiple surgeries. The VA has been a big help to me. I have absolutely no remorse and remain proud to have served the country in the military during wartime. God Bless!
