Today's Featured Biography
David Knoll Terry
Becky, I will not be attending the reunion but I wanted to get this bio and photo to you for the Memory Book.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
College, really, was a total hell as I was too immature to deal with the incredible pressures of an architecture curriculum and the general process of growing up. But I did graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from L.S.U. I had a photo of myself in cap and gown....and I looked like a zombie (fortunately, the photo hasn't survived).
My first stop after graduation was New Orleans for a summer job in the French Quarter behind the St. Louis Cathedral. Then on to St. Louis city, Beaumont, Lafayette, Fort Polk (boot camp), Fort Hood (an abbreviated tour of duty until I was able to outsmart the Army and get discharged), Lafayette again, San Francisco (where I lived in a communal household on Ashbury Street just up the way from Haight), Lafayette again, briefly (my mother lived there raising my three siblings), New Orleans again (1974-75), a farm in the Ozarks (with the mother of my two month old son) living in a tipi in an apple orchard on the side of a mountain, Fayetteville (Ark.), Austin, St. Thomas + St. John Virgin Islands, New Lebannon (N.Y.) living at the Abode of the Message (a spiritual commune), Pittsburgh, Boulder (stayed put there for eight years) and, finally here in Key West since arriving just two days before September 11, 2001....that's 18 locations counting my college days in Baton Rouge. Guess I was chasing something.
I've lived in the Florida Keys for nine years now and, workwise, I have built an architectural practice consisting mostly of residential design. Personalwise I have a sweet (second) family with Shari (a wonderful visual artist) and Louie the mongrel country dawg. I actually live and work on Sugarloaf Key which is 20 miles up key from Key West. Living here has been very rewarding. I love being surrounded by water, sea and sky. Sometimes I am actually able to take some time from work (no retirement for this lad) and go out on the boat out for some spear fishing.
Next stop: further south in the Caribbean!

Hope this works. Thank you, Becky, for your effort.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
