Robert McKinney

Robert W. McKinney was born in Warner Brown Hospital, October 6, 1942 to Henry C. and Rachel Rowland McKinney.
His siblings are: brother, Henry C. McKinney III, class of 1952, deceased Sept. 16, 2010, and sister, Georgia McKinney Rogers, class of 1956.
Robert attended Mrs. Lee's kindergarten, Hugh Goodwin Elementary, El Dorado Junior High, and graduated El Dorado High in 1960. He attended the University of Arkansas as a Sigma Chi and Southern State College from 1960-1965 where his major was business/economics. At Southern State College he met Glenna Cathryne Coleman of Lewisville, Ar. On June 12, 1965 they married and resided in Lewisville. He then built and operated McKinney Fish Hatcheries.
Son , Robert Coleman McKinney (Cole) was born on July 3, 1966. In 1968, Cole was diagnoised with acute lymphocyitic leukemia and is St. Jude Children's Hospital oldest survivor of ALL.
While working at the Garland Grain elevator Robert was introduced to commodity brokerage. He then became a licensed commodity broker for Stein-Kohn of Chicago and Merrill Lynch of Dallas.
Robert is very proud he combated alcoholism is 1971 and tries to help others with that addiction.
Second son, Robert Rowland McKinney (Rowland) was born on Robert's 30th birthday, October 6, 1972
January 4, 1978, daughter, Elizabeth Ashley McKinney (Ashley) was born.
Robert continued to trade commodities, farm, and raise Belgian draft horses. In 1982, Robert developed a unique market trading strategy and in 1985 he opened a brokerage office in El Dorado.
In 1988, Robert bought and operated "The Bicycle Peddler" in El Dorado with Cathey and Rowland to help.
In 1994, Robert, Cathey and Ashley moved to London, England for Ashley to attend drama school. In order to reside in the U.K., Robert had to become a college student once again. His thoughts of college were a lot different this time around.
He attended The American University-Richmond College for 2 years where he was pursuing a degree in history. The family returned to the US in June of 1996 where his degree was finished at Southern Arkansas University.
In 1998, Robert and Cathey built a home and moved to the ski area of Colorado. Due to intolerance of high altitude, they only stayed 1 1/2 years and moved back to Fayetteville, Ar. where their two sons live.
In 2003, Robert joined Jerry Beene in opening Americar. They continue to operate with Robert as a silent partner.
Robert and Cathey split the time between their homes in Texarkana, Tx. and Fayetteville, Ar.
They have been blessed with 5 grandchildren. Lachlan,5; Avy,5; Isla,3; and 14 month old twins, Mira and Jett
Besides trading the market, Robert enjoys bicycling, organic gardening, and continues to study the psychic world and the health of the human body and mind.
