Becky Saulsbury Tucker

After graduating from EHS in 1960, I attended college at Arkansas A & M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello) in Monticello, AR for two years. I married my husband and best friend, Ervin Tucker, after my first year when he was called up in the Army because of the Berlin Crisis in 1961. I transferred to Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University) in Magnolia, AR for the last two years of college. I majored in Elementary Education. I taught second grade at Murmil Heights Elementary School in El Dorado for five years until our son was born. I “retired” at that time to be a stay at home mom. During that time our daughter was born. I went back into teaching when both our children entered school. At that time I started teaching at Hugh Goodwin Elementary School and taught there for 23 years until I retired in 1998. At Hugh Goodwin I taught third grade one year and the other 22 years I spent teaching second grade. One of the highlights of my teaching career was to teach some of my fellow EHS classmates’ children.

Since retirement I have stayed busy doing volunteer secretarial work for our church. I love to work in our yard and to grow flowers. I spend a lot of time on my computer with church work, etc. When I have time, I like to crochet. I have recently joined a Line Dancing class for exercise. We have two grandchildren, a boy and a girl; and by the time our reunion arrives, our second grandson will have been born.

Our 50th class reunion will be my first class reunion to attend. I am excited and really looking forward to visiting with classmates that I have not seen or heard from in 50 years!
