Today's Featured Biography
Mary Joyner Jones
I am finally getting around to bringing my bio up to date. Billy Jones and I married on December 27, 1958, soon to be 55 years. People ask, how have we made it that long? Divorce was never an option. When there is no option for divorce you work everything out somehow. And it is always worth it. Billy was in the Marine Corps when we married so we lived in Beaufort, SC for awhile. We moved back to El Dorado for a year then to Columbia, SC for him to attend Bible college. While in Columbia we had our first two daughters, the third was born while living in Shreveport, LA where Billy taught in a Christian School.
I was a stay at home mom until the girls were all in school. We made several moves to, Arkansas and Texas and I always took a position in the school where he was administrator. Our friends used to ask how I could get things done at the school that they couldn't. I'd tell them, "I'm sleeping with the principal." We moved to Florida in 1984. Billy earned a Doctrate while I worked at what was then BellSouth Mobility. Cell phones were a new industry then so I learned from the ground up. I retired in 2002 while my job was Administrative Assistant to the Director of Real Estate and Construction to what had become Cingular Wireless, now AT&T. Billy is the Director of Biblical Studies at The Holy Land Experience here in Orlando. I can't see him ever retiring because he loves it so much. He also pastors a church, which makes me a pastor's wife.(Now that's a hard one to wrap your brain around.)
We have 3 amazing daughters, 3 wonderful son-in-laws and 8 beautiful grandchildren, 4 girls and 4 boys, 1 great grand daughter and 2 great grandson. I love being "Mimi" to all these guys.
In my "spare time" I love making greeting cards. I sell a few and give away a lot.
I also love having dinner parties and setting a beautifully decorated table.
In the past 2 years I have had 2 cancers, Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a very rare, aggressive and serious skin cancer that forms tumors under the skin. Praise the Lord I have come through both and at this time and I am cancer free. God has taught me many things through this about myself and what is really important in this life.
I am looking forward to seeing you at the reunion. See you there!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
