David Elmore
I Spent 50 years working as a petroleum landman, most as self employed and living in Houma, Louisiana. Married in 1963 to Emily Gray whom I met at Okla. Univ. and still married after 55 years….GOD has a special place in Heaven for her.
We’ve got 3 adult children and 4 grands. Oldest son, David & wife Julie are both Methodist ministers who served 5 years in Nome, Alaska and presently in southern Michigan with a 4 year old son. Son Jason followed in my footsteps as a petroleum landman, located in New Orleans with wife, Britt from Paris, France and 9 year old son. Jason works for a large independent oil company and also owns an indoor sports arena in New Orleans. Daughter Rachel and husband Tate have a daughter who just graduated from high school in Holly Springs, NC and will attend LSU in the fall. They also have a 15 year old son.
I retired in 2013 and have spent most of my time volunteering for church and civic functions, since I have no hobbies. Emily and I used to spend our summers in Colorado, but I decided to sell our house last year, after 20 years. I don’t miss it however it would be nice to get away from the extreme heat this summer.
Emily and I travel some…..a wonderful trip to Australia and New Zealand; a river cruise down the Danube River; trips to visit kids in Alaska, Michigan and North Carolina; Columbia River cruise (Lewis & Clark route) and 2 trips to France; one to son’s wedding and another to the French Open tennis tournament.
Sadly, I will be unable to attend our 60th class reunion. My cousin, Sonny Hammond Bell called me several weeks ago to inform me of the date and I had just scheduled (and paid for) a Viking cruise up the St. Lawrence River, thru Quebec, Nova Scotia, down the eastern seaboard to Boston and NYC, conflicting with the reunion date.
Emily & I have attended all but one reunion and she is always amazed at how much we all enjoy being together again. That speaks volumes for each of you, for growing up in El Dorado and attending EHS. How could we have been that lucky?
