Today's Featured Biography
Bryan Cox
Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you all. I can't believe it is almost 30 years since we graduated from Monacan. First of all I miss some of you. After graduating I went to Saint Paul's College and transferred to James Madison University and Majored in Kinesiology. I did finally graduate from JMU. I met lots of knew friends and had lots of fun in the process. That was, I guess, one of the reasons it took me so long to finish. But it does not matter, I finished and JMU was one of my best experiences.
After finishing JMU, I worked at circuit city for a few years and discovered from one of my clients that I sold a computer to about maybe going into Chiropractic school. I did my research and found out that it was something that I may love to do. So I stopped everything because I knew I did not want to be selling all of my life even though I was in the top 10% in the region. I then went to Life University School of Chiropractic to receive my Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. Soon after I finished my degree, I decided to travel outside of the country and work for 1 year. It was great but I felt I did not accomplish all I needed to so I stayed.
I am now in Ghana, saving the world one spine at a time and educating the population about the power of chiropractic. I thank God that he was able to bless my hands to help so many people get healthier through chiropractic. People who could not walk are now walking through the power of chiropractic. We have seen people with headaches, back pains, neck pains, waist pains, rib and chest pains, numbness and tingling down arms and legs and many other ailments. My experience in Ghana has been humbling and uplifting as well. I have been in contact with people I would not other wise been able to meet. The UN flew me to Liberia to educate the staff and treat the staff. I treated the King in the Ashanti Region, and a Past President in Ghana. I was able to meet Obama which some of you don't care about but no matter your political affiliation or what you think about him, he is still the President of the United States. I have realized that America is just one small piece of the world and there are so many different cultures and customs worldwide. I do miss America but I am glad I am where I am now. Just like everything in life you have your ups and downs but it is what you make of it that is important. Never give up dreaming and doing the best that you can do.
Some of the accomplishments I have had since I graduated monacan are as followed:
- Played Football and Graduated from JMU. Was nominated captain of the Special teams and it was the 1st JMU team to go to the playoffs.
- Was Mr. Winchester in Bodybuilding in 1991.
- Was in the top 10 in the States in Bodybuilding Middle weight in 91
- Graduated from Chiropractic school
- 1st and only person of African Descent to be elected as a Fellow of the International Chiropractors Association.
- Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated
- Founder and Basileus/President of Omega Psi Phi Frat. in Ghana, West Africa.
- Have 3 offices in Ghana
- Been on TV and radio programs and may have my own show educating the public about living a healthier life through chiropractic.
- Have adjusted (treated) Kings, a President, and other dignitaries.
- Have travelled other countries.
- Have 30 acres towards a future Chiropractic College in Ghana.
- Last but not least, I have 3 lovely girls and a wife. I started late with the marriage thing but I think I got it right. We have been together for 9 years going on 10 in November.
Hope I haven't bored you with my update. I would like to say my heart was broken about the lost of David Holt and some of the other people in our class who are no longer living. May God bless them and each and every one of you all so.
I am on facebook if you want to connect.
