Today's Featured Biography
Jay Christianson
After graduating PHS I guess I began my career path by working seasonally at Utah Lake State Park as a Seasonal Park Ranger during the summers while I attended Snow College (General Ed) and Utah Valley Community College (Electronic Technology).
I finally got married in mid -70's and have three great kids, but I ended up divorced, but I got remarried in '93 and was widowed a few years later. But, third time must be the charm; I married a beautiful young lady that I have worked with most of career at State Parks last year.
Jayson, the oldest, graduated from BYU and just finalized his MBA at the U of U. Jennie played women soccer and graduated from BYU with a Masters in Social Work and she is still working on the coaching staff at the Y; and the youngest son, Jake, is still in school.
Working for Utah State Parks has been a wonderful career. It has afforded me a number of wonderful opportunities to work with some great people and to be involved in managing Utah's State Parks and its programs.
Some of the positions I have held over the past 37 years have been State Park Ranger, the Park Superintendent of Scofield, Great Salt Lake and Pioneer Trail (This is The Place Heritage Park) State Parks, Northern Region Manager, Chief of Operations, Chief of Law Enforcement and the Northwest Region Manager.
During the 2002 Utah Olympic Winter Games I work on special assignment with the Department of Public Safety- Utah Olympic Public Safety Command for 3 years as Accommodations Manager, Venue Commander for Public Safety Villages and Venue Commander for Solider Hollow Alternate Housing which housed the nordic athletes and coaches.
Life has been great, but not without it ups and downs. I love the outdoors and enjoy camping, fishing and hiking.
