Today's Featured Biography
Connie DeHaan Larsen
Right out of high school I worked for a magazine publishing company. Left there after a year to work at Weber State as a secretary in Buildings & Grounds Dept. Met my husband while working there when he came in looking for a job. He didn’t get the job, but got the secretary! Lol. That was in 1974, married in 1976. He was an electrician and I started doing books, payroll, invoicing for him and we started Light’n Up Electric, Inc., which we had for 40 years. Even before we were married I began my caregiving career for him when he had a motorcycle accident and was in traction for 6 weeks, a body cast for 4 months, and many more accidents after that in his racing career. Jerry contracted Polio at the age of 3 weeks, Post Polio Syndrome at the age of 37 years which put him in a wheelchair permanently. I am his full-time caregiver. We also had 1 child with congenital heart defects and a 5-year-old with cancer for two years. I was also a caregiver for Jerry’s parents and my own parents. It’s been a wild ride, many blessings still, and rewarding in service to others. As Bi-Centennial man, Robin Williams, said “I am glad to be of service”.
I really enjoyed my high school years and look back on it fondly. If my husband’s health allows it, we will be to the reunion to meet you all again. Keep smiling!
