Amanda Walker Nelson

After graduation I moved to Ogden, and went to Stacey's beauty School. I roomed with Stacey Defriez right next to Weber campus. We had a fun year! After our lease was up I moved back home for the summer, and stayed home until I finished Beauty School (It took me little over 1 1/2 years to get my license) .

After finishing I started dating Luke (my husband), and ended up getting a job in Logan, doing hair, at Silver Clippers. I roomed with Sue Ketner near Utah State campus. But poor Sue nearly roomed by herself, because I was always with Luke. It was hard because Luke lived in Ogden, and of course when your dating you want to spend every waking minute with each other.

Needless to say I decided to move back home and get a job in Ogden. I worked at Thomas Hardy Salon for a short time, and finally I found the Salon that would best fit me: Textures Salon in Roy. I loved working there. I was hired by one of my good friends from Beauty School (Scott Sugimoto).

Shortly after starting at Textures, Luke and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple. We moved to a tiny town called Peterson in a tiny little house, way back on a dirt road. It was an interesting place to live. We lived there only until our lease was up. We stayed with Lukes mom a little while until we found our house in North Ogden.

I became pregnant right before moving in (we had been married 2 years). When I had my first child (Ashton), I quit my job at textures after working for them for 3 years. I thought it would be a hard thing to quit because I loved it so much, but being a stay-at-home mom has been my best gig so far!!

When Ashton was 15 months old I became pregnant with Talon, and he is now 13 months old. Life as a mom can certainly be hectic, but I just love it right now. I just love our little family we have created. I have so much fun with them. Being a mom has changed the way I look at the world, and changed the way I look at myself. I am grateful for all I have.
