Today's Featured Biography
Glenna Bevan Fowler
After graduating from SHHS I went on to Sam Houston State (back then) and graduated in '63 with a degree in Elementary Education. Moved to Tyler and taught 5 years there before moving to Burleson in 1970. Stayed home raising my son and daughter until she was in the 5th grade. I substitute taught among other endeavors to supplement income during those years. Then I returned to teaching. Taught 2 years in Arlington and then 14 more years in Cleburne in Pre-K. I say that I finally got down to the level of my math expertise! I could count on my fingers to ten!
Along the way, after 28 years of marriage, I divorced Ed Carroll and stayed single for about 6 years. Then I met and married (in 1995) the love of my life, David Fowler. He's a retired telephone man who served his country in Viet Nam and Japan.
My mom passed away April 6, 2010. As of August my mother-in-law has moved in with us. She will be 83 In Nov. It is working out well.
David and I work with Volunteer Christian Builders, going around Texas and other states building church buildings for Southern Baptist Churches and camps. We have a farm near Commerce, TX where we hope to eventually live.
I am the very proud grandmother of 4 very grand children. The kids are: Drew (1992), Trever (1995), Sarah Ruth (2003) and Rebekah,(2007)
A few years ago I had a lifetime dream fulfilled when I had two articles published in a national Christian Magazine. Now I am the chapter director of an organization called Threads of Love which sews for premature babies. We serve two hospitals in the Ft. Worth area.
I still sew, crochet, and read a lot. I higly reccomend any book by Karen Kingsbury. I am retired but busier than ever.
