Today's Featured Biography
Agnes (Aggie) Imburgin Stryker
A Little About Aggie
I was named Agnes, but after moving to Texas and dating students from Texas A&M, I was nicknamed “Aggie.” I married Allen Stryker (a Texas Aggie) in 1967. Allen has endured my teaching almost every grade level in various states and grades, for civilian schools and military schools. We have 3 adult kids and 3 fantastic grandkids. If you are in my classes sometimes you get to hear about them. My goal is to help students learn to be the teacher that I would want teaching my grandkids.
Even though teaching is what I enjoy most, when I taught in San Antonio, TX, I was talked into writing a monthly article for San Antonio F.A.M.I.L.Y Magazine. After a few years, I changed my focus in education and began to work with obstetricians, teaching childbirth classes and attending deliveries. From 1974 until 1986 I worked with doctors in San Antonio, TX, St. Charles, MO, and in Plano, TX. In 1986 I again changed my focus and became certified to teach dyslexic and at-risk students. I opened a private practice in Plano where I provided academic therapy to primarily secondary students. Working with the cooperation of Plano Independent School District, I helped teach reading skills, writing skills, critical thinking and test-taking skills to students. During that time I gave various in-services to different schools, various special interest groups, and for Region X. I also served as a member of Plano ISD’s School Board Special Academic Services Advisory Committee. While teaching for Texas A&M University-Commerce I helped develop the Gateway Program and the Alternative Certification Program.
I wish I could tell you I have lots of hobbies. Mainly everything I do is connected with the university. I participate in the different conferences, am on a few committees, and volunteer my services when I think they are needed. In reality I am not good at too many things I’ve tried (like softball, sewing & knitting, or painting), so I just have fun enjoying life, my kids and grandkids, and my students.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
