After LD Bell, I received my undergraduate degree in chemistry and biology from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. Got my Ph. D. in biochemistry from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I married Tom Edmonds, a minister of music (with a Masters in Biology from KU and a Masters in Church Music and Ministry from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY). We have been married for 40 years, live in the country and grow trees in Marshall, TX. He is currently the minister of music and worship at First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, LA. We have no children, but a variety of pets.
After graduating KU, I had a fellowship at Tulane Medical school, Delta Regional Primate Center, and the National Kidney foundation in New Orleans, LA, looking for a vaccine against kidney disease in humans. Then my husband moved to Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. I got a research position with the Univ Tennessee Veterinary school in immunology to develop a shipping fever pneumonia vaccine in cattle.
After his father died we move to Shreveport, LA and I taught at Grambling State University – interesting. I gave up academics for industry (didn’t like writing grant proposal that got approved but not funded).
Eastman Chemical Company’s Utilities’ Environmental Laboratory dept hired me as the only “professional biologist” at a chemical plant in Longview, TX. It was a diverse job. I oversaw several wet chemistry labs for wastewater treatment plant discharges, worked on water quality issues, monitored the health of bacteria in our 6 MGD wastewater treatment plant, tested our discharge for aquatic toxicity problems, studied the biodegradation of new chemicals, learned to control algae in a cooling water reservoir (not with fish), controlled slime growth and corrosion-causing bacteria in cooling towers, used phytoremediation to clean up groundwater – anything thing that had some aspect of biology in it, became one of my job projects. I retired after 27 years.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
