In recent light of some concerns expressed,
there are some of us who feel that they might have
slipped through the cracks, were neglected,
disregarded, or ignored, in their short time at
Ramey High, and are a bit hesitant to now come
forward.
Let this be a place where we can all be who we are.
For those of us who fall into the above mentioned
situations, you are still one of us.
We breathed the same air. If there was ever a time
to let it all out or put it behind us, the time has come.
There are those who we will never see again, for
whatever reason; be it death, destiny or choice.
But if there is even a flicker of hope in what we are
all about and trying to accomplish, well then let it be now.
The general consensus is that the teen age years
with all those imploding hormones, can be the most
formative, rebellious, and now retrospective of our
lives. We can change our minds and way of thinking
about ourselves and our past. For if we come to terms
with our past we come to terms with ourselves, and who
we are now.
Let this be a site where we can reach out and maybe
reconnect with those who we wanted to say something
to all those years ago but never did. Time is short, a lot
shorter than we think.
Many of us will reach that space in time when and where we wished we woulda/shoulda/coulda/ done things differently. If your time at Ramey High falls into this pool of thought, well reach out touch someone, you might be surprised that they were waiting for someone from the past to reach out too. Tomorrow may never come my friends.
We Salute All Our Class Veterans.
Remember to turn off the music on the playlist before listening to this. Go up to the playlist and click on the middle circle on the left side of the player. This will turn off the music temporarily. Thanks to Tony Traweek for finding this wonderful tribute to all our veterans.

02/15/10 - A quick update .... the "RHS DESTINation Reunion" [ALL CLASS BLAST] in October 2009 was amazing and quite evocative --- a unique experience to see those who were able to attend. The "All Stars" basketball team humbled, hammered and spanked us "Legends" during the reunion basketball game --- what a hoot! I would encourage all who are able to attend a reunion (hell, attend all of 'em)! It is impressive how successful and happy so many of our fellow BOMBERS have been in their respective life paths.
I enjoyed re-connecting with a few of mi compadres viejos since the All-Class Blast in Destin, FL -- some really cool dudes and dudettes! We are so fortunate to have experienced Ramey and PR in our early lives - as everyone routinely stated ... and it is true!!!
Everyone ... be well ... be safe!
**************************
OK, about me since 1965 ... I retain tremendously positive and occasionally evocative memories of my four years residing and "living" in PR (the "Rock") --- although I barely graduated from RHS in '65 (Thank you, Coach Thompson!) ... BOOya! ... OBTW - were we supposed to have that much "fun" at the O'Club pool and Survival Beach and in the base gym? I still have urchin quills in my knees and feet and scars on my elbows from body surfing ... and falling down at Survival Beach. Breakin' curfew was always risky (I was awarded 2 "DRs" by the APs" ... but always had fear enhanced fun!).
After squeaking by and graduating from RHS, I then played basketball (and went to class occasionally) at North Idaho Junior College in Coeurd'Alene, ID ('65-'67) and University of Idaho in Moscow, ID ('67-'69) -- resulting in a B.S. in Psychology ... attended walk-on try outs for the NBA (Seattle Supersonics) and quickly realized the limits of my ahtletic ability (a true blessing in disguise) ... played a little semi-pro basketball and was drafted into the Army in late '69, but curiously was laterally diverted to USAF at the AFEES station in Seattle due to athletic ability ("You play ball, boy?") ... enlisted USAF '69 - '73 - Lackland AFB > USAF Academy -- fortunate to play on base, Command and All-USAF basketball teams ... and attended graduate school at night and weekends resulting in M.A. in Counseling from University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO ('73) ... separated from the USAF and entered Utah State University and graduated with a Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology ('75) ... commissioned and re-entered USAF to complete an 18 month clinical psychology internship and residency program at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, San Antonio, TX ('75 - '76), then assigned to medical centers at Minot AFB, ND ('76 - '78) (Why not Minot? Freezin' is the reason!!) and Luke AFB, Phoenix, AZ ('78 - '79) (Valley of death by sun!!) ... exited the USAF and became a clinical member of the Medical Staff (Department of Psychology) at the Portland VA Medical Center and Associate Professor, Deparment of Medical Psychology, University of Oregon Medical School, Portland, OR ('79 - '82) --- established and developed Vietnam Era Veteran Outreach Facilities ("Vet Centers") in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, and became Regional Clinical Consultant to Department of Veterans Affairs ... re-entered the USAF as a clinical psychologist to go to Europe (RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, UK) (82 - '90) -- where I was Chief, Department of Mental Health, USAF Hospital, and facilitated the implementation and development of the Aviation Psychology Program throughout USAFE (became a rated Aerospace Clinical Psychologist and flew right seat in F-111s on routine training missions, and was a member of numerous aircraft accident investigations throughout USAFE > accordingly flew numerous orientation / familiarization and TDY missions in F-15, F-16, A-10, H-53, C-141, C-130, C-5 - amazing experiences) ... then returned to Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM, to "retire" ('93) ... another BOOya!!! ... have since been on the medical staff of a large regional medical center ... and then established a group private practice in occupational medicine and developed a mental health provider panel for managed medical care ... and then started a leadership and management consultancy (focusing on developing executive leadership and senior management teams, and human reliabilty assessments and security clearance determinations for large corporations and federal agencies) and a part-time consultancy focused on improving individual athletic performance ... and have always maintained a small, select private psychotherapy practice that is infintely rewarding ... I'll probably never really "retire" - 'cuz my life/work balance is almost perfect and I'm having soooo much FUN!!
So many exquisite choice points, such great fortune and persistent serendipity on my Life Path ...
OK, so, there you have the executive summary of the last 47 years or so ... went by pretty fast it seems and has been one hell of an exurberant ride! HOOah! .. :o)
I'm thoroughly enjoying all aspects of living and playing in the High Mountain Desert of NM the past 20+ years, and have an abundance of gratitude for my life's journey ... it truly just seems to be getting better. Have had many life lessons, weathered many storms, fallen down and gotten back up, laughed and cried, just like we all have - and am just comfortably cruisin' now [although I still travel quite a bit for business ... and PLEASURE!].
How about all the rest of you BOMBERS? Como estan? Digame!
My senior class photo evokes a chuckle every time I look at it ... and that picture of me with Cecile ("TREE") is a real HOOT -- kinda hard to believe I survived the attendant hassles, harrassment and humiliation - and certain rejection ... did I really look like that? I did? Whoa ... no wonder I was the easy object of, well, you remember ---HA! ... :o)...
Thank you to whoever posted the contact information for Coach Thompson and Coach Swenson ... two great men who unequivocally influenced my life in a postive, adaptive way!
May serendipity reign in your lives ... may you all attain what you seek when the time is right ... may each of you be splinterless as you slide down the banister of your life!
GO BOMBERS!!!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
