Today's Featured Biography
Lanee Shipe Howell
After graduating from Lycoming College in 1966, I began a 36 year teaching career in the Montgomery County Public School system in Maryland - in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Most of my teaching experiences have been in first grade and kindergarten, a few years in second grade and nursery school, and one year teaching math in 7th and 8th grade!
For the last 7 years of my teaching career I was the Staff Development Teacher at Bannockburn Elementary School in Bethesda, MD. My main job was to be a source of support for all staff members. It was challenging working with adults rather than children but it was rewarding as all jobs tend to be.
In 1968 I married the love of my life, Bob Howell who hails from Orlando, FL - before Disney World! He is an alumni of the University of Maryland and had worked for the National Geographic Society for 36 years as an Assistant Vice President and Director of Human Resources.
Our daughter Beth was born in 1976 and got married on November 4, 2006 on Sugarloaf Mountain in MD to Fletcher Caldwell from Bryn Maur, PA. She's a graduate of Frostburg State University in MD and did post-graduate work at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA. She works for the Discovery Channel as a photo editor for the Travel, Planet Green and Animal Planet websites. Her husband is also a photographer with a degree from Syracuse University. She and her husband freelance as wedding and portrait photographers. Check out their website - www.SWELL-Photography.com.
On April 11, 2010 they provided us with a grandson - Greydon Robert Caldwell. He's a special part of all our lives. We now understand the joy of being a grandparent. What fun.
My husband and I enjoy traveling, boating, fly fishing, kyaking, traveling, hiking, playing golf, spending time with friends - and did I mention traveling?? We've traveled to most all of the states east of the Mississippi, many in the West and also Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and Europe. We went to Hawaii with Birdie Scholl Smith and her husband a few summers ago.
July 1, 2007 we retired and moved to Kingsmill in Williamsburg, VA. We also have a cabin at Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland where we hope to spend summers and entertain our many friends. Please let us know if you will be in either area. We love visitors and would enjoy seeing you.
Sorry, we sold the Lake House!! Planning a trip with friends to Alaska this summer.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
