Pete is fully retired (change of direction) from his career and activities in the business world as of Jan. 4, 2010. Life has been very good to us and we are thankful. Pete enjoyed success as a professional licensed surveyor and president of his own land surveying and consulting businesses 1971 to 2007. Prior to that, 9 years as a surveyor and utility relocation technician with the Pa. Dept. of Transportation. We sold our consulting business to Larson Design Group in 2007 where Pete spent 3 years as a project manager and marketing representative until January of 2010 when he retired. He now spends time as chief Inspector for two local municipalities. Cookie has been retired since 2003 and still is chief go-for an do-for, bookkeeper and housemaker. She still keeps hold of the reins and gives Pete a weekly allowance when needed. Pete is enjoying another career as an independent consulting person for Monty's Plant Food Company, Out of Louisville, Kentucky, volunteer manager at East Snyder Park and playing with his computers. He also has a honey do list he is constantly working on. How did we ever get from 1961 to 2020 so fast, it is just a blurr.
Both of us enjoy designing, building and constructing projects whether it is our new house, landscaping, fence, shed or bird houses. We geared up and are doing some extensive traveling and site seeing. We enjoy house boating on canals, crusing and trips to Alaska, Eastern USA, Canada, Newfoundland, Myrtle Beach, Florida and Branson. It is just time to do it and enjoy life.
We have been married 54 happy and prosperous years. We have two children Ellie (45) who has 3 children, Jenna 22, Brendan 5/17/97 to 4/3/98 who passed and Samantha 15. Mandy (42) who has 4 children Katie 24, Sarah 20 and twins Nicole and Erin 15. We have one great granddaughter Lilliana Rose who was 8 on 12-12-2020. The grandchildren keep gram busy especially when all show up at the DeWire house.
The 55th reunion is over but wow did we ever have a good time and are now looking forward to the 60th if we ever get a handle on covid-19. New friendships were gained, plans were made to associate with other classmates at upcoming events and even plan vacations together. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how important it is to keep in contact. Visit the website often and post news or update your bio from time to time. Stay in contact since our 60th class reunion is not far away, it never is, see you then.

The Selinsgrove Rotary Club presented their annual Distinguished Service Award to Pete and Mary Anne “Cookie” DeWire at an awards dinner held at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. The award recognizes individuals in the community who, by their actions, live Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. The DeWire's have been very active in many aspects of the Selinsgrove area community for many decades. Their most recent volunteer efforts have helped shape East Snyder Park, a recreational area just West of the Selinsgrove. "Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
