I was born in Danville, Pennsylvania and raised in nearby Sunbury. My childhood was filled with playing sports and chasing girls(still do). I graduated from York College. I did not know what I wanted to do, I packed my car and headed towards Philadelphia. After struggling for about a year I landed a job at Norristown Wholesale in the I.T. department. I did not intend to stay there to long. It lasted 30 years. Company was sold and I had to move on. Went to work at Conduit and foundation in Philadelphia. That lasted 2 years and the company went bankrupt. Then went to work at Henry F Michell Co. That lasted 8 years and my department was restructured and out sourced. At that point I was 61 1/2. I tested the job market but found I was not needed at my salary and age, so I choose to retire. I am in the process of selling my home and start the downsizing process. My life is good.
I have 2 children and 2grandchilren. My son Adam has one child(Autumn)age 8. My son Brian lives in Birmingham, Ala with his wife Terri and their son Matthew age 16
I worked in the High Tech field from the days of unit records to today's mid-range systems, networking and the internet.
I enjoy taking long walks at Valley Forge Park and the local Farm Park where I live. I also enjoy my computers and working in the yard.
* May 1, 2008 I have since sold my home and now live in a condominium. The transition was easy. I could no longer take care of the house. It had become work. The hardest transition was meeting people. I now have some friends and enjoying myself
* October 10, 2008 I spent some time at the shore house. With summer over I continue to enjoy myself by walking. A activity which runs through my blood. I continue to enjoy my time with my children, Brian and Adam. My grandson Matthew is a senior this year and will be attending Bloomsburg. Adam is enjoying himself with the shore and taking his pull trailer to many places for the fall. I have my friends now and one who is a very special friend. Life is good.

The Selinsgrove Rotary Club presented their annual Distinguished Service Award to Pete and Mary Anne “Cookie” DeWire at an awards dinner held at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. The award recognizes individuals in the community who, by their actions, live Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. The DeWire's have been very active in many aspects of the Selinsgrove area community for many decades. Their most recent volunteer efforts have helped shape East Snyder Park, a recreational area just West of the Selinsgrove. Pictured below (L to R) are Mike Flock, Master of Ceremonies, Pat Pinkowski, President of the Rotary Club, Cookie and Pete DeWire

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
