Today's Featured Biography
Richard Geshel
Following graduation, went to Army training as an Operating Room Technician at FT Sam Houston in San Antonia, Texas. Afterward, spent a semester at Missouri Valley College in Marshall the following spring (1989) where I caught up with two EMHS classmates, Bill Tucker and Rick Vanaustrin (sp). Following a summer back in Edmond moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Joined the US Navy that following January and became a Corpsman (medic); spent little over a year in Pensacola, Florida where I ran into a fellow 1988 EMHS grad, Scott Jones, incidently where we first met... we hadn't met roaming the halls of the school prior to this; we were at the Cordova Mall in Pensacola when the first Gulf War began. In the summer of 1991, after attending the Navy's Aviation Medical Technician school, transfered to San Diego, CA, where I was initially assigned to the base medical clinic, then assigned to Sea Control Squadron 33, the World Famous and Internationally Traveled Screwbirds. Deployed on two tours to the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68). Joined the Arizona Army Guard as a medic for the 2/180 Field Artillery after seperating from the Navy, simultaneously attending undergrad at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Graudated from NAU with two bachelor degrees, BS in Zoology (Chem minor) and BA in History. Attended medical school from 2001 to 2005 on the Army's Health Professions Scholarship Program at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in June '05. Moved to perform my Intership at Madigan Army Medical Center where I wrote a book chapter (Chapter 24) on thoracic and lumbar spine injuries in The Sports Medicine Resourse Manual, went into print in January of 2008 by Elsevier publishing. After a short stay at FT Sill in Lawton and a 15 month deployment to Camp Bucca, Iraq providing care for Iraqi's detained by Coalition forces, moved on to Sierra Vista in my home state of Arizona and spent the next 22 months as the dedicated Flight Surgeon to the 305th Military Intelligence Battalion. Recently divorced myself of the regular Army near the end of July, 2010 and joined the Michigan Army Guard as the Flight Surgeon to the 3rd Battalion, 238 Aviation Regiment. Currently at Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine as a Neuromusculoskeletal / Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Resident for the next couple of years.
Married Meghan, my college sweetheart (and next door neighbor) on May 25, 2002. Quinn came into this world on June 20, 2004 (Father's Day). She is the first baby I ever had the privilege of delivering! Daniel came into the world on the 19th of November, 2008 and Kassia on the 16th of February, 2010, both born at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center, each delivered by their Dad. Last..... GO SUN DEVILS!!!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
