Today's Featured Biography
Steven Mackenroth
I left Stow after my sophomore year and finished high school in St Louis. Graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1962 where I met my wife, Cookie. I then entered pilot training in the Air Force and we were married the following year. The next 4 years I flew in Tactical Air Command spending most of my service in or about the Vietnam theater. Left the Air Force in 1967 and entered grad school receiving an MFA from Trinity University. The next 15 wonderful years were spent in the professional theater as a member of the Dallas Theater Center acting company. In the early 80's, we made the decision to leave the theater and I joined my brother, David, starting a new law firm here in Sacramento. Dave has since semi-retired and I am now with Jacobson Markham LLP and still loving it.
Cookie and I never started a family (the military and theater probably being the culprits) but after 45 years of married life, we still love each other and she’s my best friend. And counselor! We live in our California euro-urban farmhouse with our precious little Yorkie, “Boise.” During our California years, we have maintained our ties to theater, music and dance. Both of us still perform in theater and I sing and play in a music group. We’re presently about to open in Chekhov's Uncle Vanya at the Artisan Theater a week after the reunion!
Like many others, family, church and friends have become the focus of our lives. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share what we have with those we love. And I am looking forward to seeing everyone in September!
