Hey Everybody - Now's your chance! What special WHRHS graduate or teacher/staff would you want to nominate for the WHRHS Hall of Fame? The deadline for nominations is Feb. 3 and we only do this every few years, so please see the WHRHS web page, download the application and fill it out to the best of your ability, and submit right away!!
Many schools only recognize athletes, but the WHRHS Hall of Fame recognizes artists, musicians, writers, scientists, community activists, pumpkin carvers and athletes who've had noteworthy achievements during or since high school (We even have a Nobel Prize winner!!) Nominees have to have graduated at least 10 years ago, teacher and staff nominees need to be retired, not currently working in the school.
We have a lovely reception in the spring for those selected and a plaque in the front hall of the school, to recognize their achievements and inspire current students.

Today's Featured Biography
Mary Nicola Farrar
After graduating from WHRHS I attended Hartford Airline School. My plans were to work for the Airlines as a Reservationist. Instead I was hired by Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey.
Bob Farrar (Class of 1965) and I started dating in the fall of 1966. Bob went off to Vietnam for two tours and when he returned in 1970 we dated an additional two years and were married on June 18, 1972 during Hurricane Agnes!!!
I took a leave of absence from Bell Labs (I think I am still out on leave) when we found out that I was going to have our daugther, Bob I decided that it would be wonderful for me to stay at home and devote my time to our daugther, Amanda.
In 1977 Bob, Mandy and I packed all of our belongings and decide to move to Maine. We both enjoyed the outdoors. What a better place to rear a child!
From the time Mandy started school I worked as a substitute teacher in our local school district. Attended college for a couple of years and ran for a seat on the School Board and was elected and served on the board for 4 years. I went back to work part-time at a local bank and became a State Certified bank teller. I worked for the bank for several years and really needed a change.
My career into victim advocacy started in February of 1990. I was hired by a local District Attorney's Office as a victim/witness advocate. My clients were all victims of criminal crimes. I landed my present job with the State of Maine working in the Office of the Attorney General. I still work as a victim advocate, however my clients are families of murdered victims.
Bob and I will be celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary and our daugther is still a joy to both of us. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a master's degree in Forestry and works for a private company. She and her long time boyfriend John live in a small town about 30 minutes from us with their bernese mountain dog, Bailey. Bob and I also have two huge berners. Kenny and Bucky. They both keep us busy and since they eat so much I will have to work until I am 80!!!!! Mary
