Today's Featured Biography
John Ferguson
I'm currently in Savusavu, Fiji as a professional photographer and webmaster. In November (2013) I will leave Fiji to live full time at our other home in Italy where I'll still be a webmaster, photographer and an olive farmer. My partner Diana Ruff (BWHS class of 1972) and I have been together for 23 years now and have enjoyed a wonderful life together. In 1991 we sold everything in Billings and moved to Florida where we bought a small sailboat and set sail for the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean where we started a company doing underwater videos. We did that for 3 years and then set sail to discover other places. We lived on the yacht for 13 years, sailing around the Caribbean, Central America and the south Pacific, finally ending up in Savusavu, Fiji where we built a home and worked at the Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort. For the past 4 years we have been renovating an old farmhouse in Sicily and it will be our next home starting in November. I've found it very interesting reading about my other classmates and their lives. Hopefully we'll make it to the class reunion in 2014. All the best to everyone!
Update: In Sicily full time now and have finished rebuilding an old stone barn into a beautiful little home. We have olives, carob, almonds, apricots, pears, pomegranates and a few others I can't think of right now. We're enjoying the simple, slow life of Sicily and its wonderful scenery, people, food and wines. Salute!
Update to the update: We have recently sold our first house that we spent 8 years in and now have another property with a slightly larger home and only 100 or so olive trees to tend to. The view out over the nearby valley is fantastic and it is much easier to maintain this property than the previous one. Diana and I finally got married in 2017 in Malta (the country, not the town in Montana) and are still enjoying the Italian lifestyle and especially the food and wine. Hope to make it to the 50th reunion to see everyone. Spero di vedervi presto.
