Today's Featured Biography
Joanne Regele Perlman
Has it really been THAT long? Well, take a look around; I guess the answer is "Yes!" Life is good. Old age ain't for sissies. All the aphorisms begin to apply as I grow and change into this next decade. I'm grateful for it all--the joys, the pains, the colors, the goddamn growth opportunities. I'm a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend: not bad, if there was nothing else.
What else? Currently I'm a writer who doesn't finish much or get published and am on the ballot as Registrar of Voters in our little Connecticut town. I'm a pretty good cook, a budding photographer, a dabbler in fine arts and crafts, a singer at an open mic night that's like something out of a Robert Altman movie.
I'm happy, joyous and free a good deal of the time; restless, irritable and discontent more than I'd like. I have pretty much everything I need and a lot of what I want. I'll hold out for a piece of land on Rock Creek, but am happy that I can travel to see my family as often as I do (kids in OR and PA; siblings in MT, OR, PA and FL) and visit foreign lands now and again.
As a non-religious person, I'll leave this, in the spirit of spirituality, in honor of my mother, who passed away in December:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
