Today's Featured Biography
Annette Brady Evans
A week after graduation, I left Billings to work in Yellowstone Park for the summer and have not lived in Montana since. I met my husband, a saxophone-playing Speech Language Pathologist, during my freshman year at Brigham Young University. Kent and I were married in August 1972 and just celebrated our 38th anniversary. After working as a stay-at-home mom with 5 children for 15 years, I finished a degree in Spanish and English teaching.
I taught 7th grade for 17 years and completed a masters degree in Educational Counseling. Although I had planned to be a school counselor, the district invited me to be the Mentor Specialist. I have worked for the past 6 years recruiting and training mentors for Nebo School District's 300-400 new teachers. I also facilitate secondary new teacher induction and have taught Classroom Management as adjunct faculty at BYU. And I teach an English class at the young mother's high school just for fun (I get away with writing fragments because I'm an English major).
My greatest passions are my family, church service, and traveling. Our children are all married, and we enjoy each of our 13 (almost 15) beautiful grandchildren. I'm truly blessed to live with my best friend who shares my spirit of adventure. We have traveled all over the United States and Mexico and to several European countries, including Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary (personal favorite), and Norway. It seems I can't go more than a year or so without seeing the Grand Tetons and Old Faithful.
We live on five acres in Mapleton, Utah, and have majestic mountain views, but the landscape of Billings-the big sky, Rimrocks and Yellowstone River-still calls to me. And I remember home with great fondness.
