I went on to college for a while and earned a couple of Engineering degrees. I got good use out of them over a 40 year career and had the good fortune to work on some very interesting projects. Highlights of sorts include studies for how aircraft-sized drones could operate from aircraft carriers, an IT application that does a mash-up of data mining from a medical patient encounter database and an array of chemical/biological agent warning sensors, evaluating GPS guided parasails used for precision airdrops of medical supplies, an automated medical operations planning tool for nuclear/biological/chemical warfare environments, lead author for a study draft for the NATO standardization agreement for casualty estimation and medical care in nuclear/biological/chemical warfare environments, an online data curation tool for the National Cancer Institute, a signal analysis receiver for the Luftwaffe's ECR Tornado aircraft, definition of alternative Data Link and Physical layers in the OSI model for networked command and control of strategic missiles and some stuff in the special access world.
I met my wife Sheila in 1980 after my move to the Dallas area, and we were married a year later. Our daughter Kristin was born in 1986 during a three year sojourn in Colorado Springs. Sheila works as a librarian at a community college just down the road.
My time in retirement is focused on playing tabletop board games with friends to maintain the brain and keep up some minimal level of social skills.
