Today's Featured Biography
Karen Melson Sutton
I was married to John Shireman (Raytown Class of 1962) for eleven years. During that time, we were blessed with three beautiful daughters. Kimber, Vice President, Smith Group, Inc. and Director, Mutual Fund Education Alliance, lives in Lee’s Summit, MO. Tamra, also a Lee’s Summit, MO resident, is employed by Truman Medical Center in the Microbiology Department. Offering her expert services in the Blue Springs, MO School District as an RN, our youngest daughter Kelly also resides in Lee's Summit, MO.
Don, my patient husband of 43 years, brought two young children to our marriage. Don Jr. now resides in Los Angeles, CA, and is CEO and President of a real estate company. An Engagement Leader at Cerner Corporation, Valerie is located in Kansas City, KS. I’ve always contended that one of my proudest achievements in life is that all of our children have earned a college degree. (YEAH! THEY LIVE ON THEIR OWN!!)
Speaking of pride, we are the fortunate grandparents of nine of the most wonderful grandkids on the face of this earth (not prejudice or anything!). Their ages range from 18 to 30 and, believe me, they keep us on our toes. Three are graduates of Pitt State University; one is a graduate of Avila University; one is a graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia; and one is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri.
I retired in 2007 and have earned a paycheck from several employers. Starting out as a comptometer operator for General Motors for a short time, I then worked as a purchasing agent for a major paint and coatings manufacturer for 13 years. The following 18 years, I served first as a secretary and then as a health room paraprofessional for the Grandview, MO School District until I hit Social Security status. Don worked in the propane and refined fuel industry our entire married life and retired several years ago after selling our business known as TST, LLC, a manufacturer of truck-mounted tanks.
Over the years my hubby and I have enjoyed traveling, boating, cruising, camping, golf and KU Basketball.
After losing our son-in-law, Dr. Mark Sessel Clark, in a tragic ATV accident in 2011, we have made an increased effort to spend as much time with family as possible and that has become our priority in life.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
