Today's Featured Biography
Sue Maggert Cummins
Gary and I have finally (for the first time ever) been able to choose where we want to live. We're back in Fort Collins, Colorado, where we lived from 1990 to 1998. Our daughter and one son, their children and their families live fairly close; one here and one in the Denver area. Our other son is a truck driver who wanders the country and really has no home, but is happy and self-supporting.
Four grandsons who give us nothing but joy live near us; one 15 minutes away and three a little more than an hour away. Since we hauled our family around the country following Gary's Marine Corps service for the 20 years we were raising our children, we are surprised and feeling quite blessed to have family close by. Two of our adult kids followed us to Fort Collins when Gary's job brought him here in 1990; we couldn't get rid of them!
Having sold our last home in Aurora, I recently deactivated my real estate license.
As a nod to using my journalism degree, I edit documents for a golf course consultant; I'm not a golf course expert and he's not a writing expert. My passion is writing and making life books for our family and for others. You can do that, too, at my web site; www.preservedforyouandyours.com. Please write the stories of your life, your vacations, your kids and grandkids, your parents and grandparents. Whether you write them the old-fashioned way or in a web-produced "coffee table" book, your kids and grandkids will love you for it.
Gary retired as the Executive Director of the Colorado Dental Association and was entirely too good at retirement (read that "too good at commandeering the television remote control") for my taste. He's now serving as a part-time Associate Minister at our church, which is perfect for both of us. I enjoy teaching pre-school children at church and hope to find a new musical outlet in this location, which we call "our last stop before the nursing home."
Hoping to attend the 50-year reunion, but we may be otherwise occupied on that date. We enjoyed Gary's 50th in Unionville in 2011.
