Becky Pitney Kendrick

Following high school graduation,I attended Moberly Jr. College where I met my husband, Tom. I graduated from the University of MO. with a Bachelors in Social Work and have been employed by the Mo. Dept. of Social Services since 1975. For 25 years, I worked as an Adoption Specialist for the Division of Family Services where I was assigned to several counties in the northern part of the state recruiting, training and maintaining adoptive families for special needs children. I currently supervise foser care and adoptive services for the the Children's Division {formerly DFS} in Randolph and Howard Counties. Working in child welfare has not only been a job, but a passion for the past 35 years. I find myself growing tired, however, and am ready to make a career change once I figure out what I would like to do next.
Tom and I have two children, Matt and Heather. Matt and his wife reside in Lake St. Louis. Heather and her husband have returned to Moberly after living in the Springfield area for a few years. They are currently teachers in the Moberly School System. I enjoy being a grandmother to my two granddaughters who can always make me smile.

8/10/2015 There have been a few changes since
I wrote the above biography. I retired from the Children's Division on 10/1/2013 and spent the next 10 months taking it easy. I am currently a part time Family Resource Advocate for the Moberly Head Start. This has been a perfect position for me so far. I work 20 hours a week and have summers and 2 weeks at Christmas off. The best part has been not supervising other workers. I do my job and go home at the end of my work week not feeling like the burdens of the world are on my shoulders. If you are working a stressful job, hopefully you will also be able to retire soon. Tom and I now have 4 granddaughters.
