Today's Featured Biography

Tracy Daby
Iowa City is my true home. Came here in 87 to attend the U of I. Met many good folks that became life-long friends. Partied too much and traveled West to regroup in '90. Lived in Oregon, Washington and out of my truck for a while. Guilted back to college for my last two years of a BA in Biology. Followed a guy up to Saint Johns University. Dumped him and finished college. Worked in Decorah, Iowa, at Seed Savers Exchange, as an apprentice. Met Bill Voss- a former JMer...should have known better. Moved to Seattle with him where he got a Masters in Slavic Linguistics (not a great career starter). We stayed there for several years while I worked with a Chiropractor as a Clinical and Admin. Assistant.
Moved back to Rochester to run my Mom's coffee shop so that she and my Dad could move to CO, where he was offered a job. The coffee shop was a pain in the neck so I sold it for them and then found out I was having high-risk twins. Stayed in Rochester to be near the Mayo Clinic and had the girls three months early. They stayed in the NICU for 2 months. Shortly after that Bill and I got hitched. We moved to Iowa City. He worked at the UI Library. I worked for an amazing Chiroptactor who became a great friend. She convinced me to quit procrastinating and get my Therapeutic Massage License.
Bill and I split up and I started my own business. Tough divorce. Raised the girls while flitting from cheap to cheper homes. Finally my luck changed and my business boomed. I bought a house that was my dream home within two years. It has everything I want except the dream man and a wood stove.
After 6 years as a LMT I decided to try for a more stable income. I worked as a Research Assistant in a UI Med College, Molecular Ophthalmology Lab. I learned some crazy shit about genetic research in rare eye diseases. Loved the work....not so much the people. They canned me for no good reason 3 weeks ago and here I am. Unemployed and concocting a new scheme for my future.
The twins are amazing, beautiful and smarty pants. They play viola and cello. They are attending the Belin-Blank Summer School for Gifted and Talented Students. The are very energetic and never shy. Right now they are babysitting a friends boy, Max, while his parents see a movie.
That's it.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
