I married Thomas Kelley (RHS '61) in 1965. I worked as an executive secretary until the birth of our first son, Jason, in 1970. We adopted our daughter,Shannon, in 1972 and our youngest, Patrick, was born in 1978.
In 1977 Thomas took a job with Bank of America in San Francisco and we moved from Golden Valley to Oakland, CA. A big move for a gal from Robbinsdale!! Our first Christmas in CA we brought our tree home in our convertible with the top down. I hated it!!! I wanted cold and snow. I soon learned to make CA home, though, and enjoy living here.
As a family we traveled to many countries and after the kids were grown Thomas and I continued to travel. I would say the most "non tourist" places I have visited are The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda,(both during conflicts) where Thomas did volunteer humanitarian work.
Thomas passed away in 2007. I still live in Oakland and my kids and 6 grandkids all live within 3 miles of me. I keep an apartment in Golden Valley so I get back to see family and friends often.
