Music and singing has always been special for me. While attending RHS, I enjoyed being a member of select choir for 4 years. I also participated in our Robbinsdale Baptist church choir. One of my high school friends, Curt Feldick, and I sang together for over 40 years at church and other functions.
A highlight of my high school years was when I attended Youth for Christ activities which were held after school.
I enjoy sports of all kinds. During my high school years and following, I played on our church softball team, both fast and slow pitch, was in the YMCA basketball league, was on the wrestling team, served as lifeguard at camp several summers and currently am a regular on a bowling team.
After graduation, I attended Dunwoody for auto mechanics and during this time I was drafted into the army. I served in the army from 1963-1965 during the Viet Nam era. I started at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and then moved on to Fort Ord, California for advanced training. After that I was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and served as a chaplain assistant.
In 1965 I started working in the trucking industry. I worked as a trucker for 30 years and then was semi-retired because of health.
In 1969 I married Elaine Dincau, who was a missionary to Indonesia before we met. We have two children. Our daughter, Kim, works as a Physical Therapist in Rochester, MN. She is married to Trafe Mullenbach and they have three children. Our son, Rocky, was a youth pastor for 8 years in northern Minnesota. He also worked at a Christian youth camp, and is presently working at Target.
I have found that retirement is not for sissies - I have enjoyed working as a Trustee in our church as well as with our Men's ministries, church bus coordinator and our camp liaison. Retirement does offer time to travel. We were able to take trips in and out of the USA and some cruises. We especially enjoyed our trip to Malaysia and Indonesia a few years ago and our trip last year to Hawaii.
