Gail’s Bio
God has blessed me in the fact that I was born and reared and remained in or on the outskirts of Lafayette all my life. I truly love living here and never wished for that to change.
After graduating at our alma mater, Lafayette High School, I attended Louisiana School of Beauty Culture and Cosmetology as many of my family members had previously done.
Over the next 32 years, (where does all the time go?) I was able to meet and become friends with so many wonderful women and men from this area only closing my beauty shop for my husband, Harold, and I to buy a grocery store in Ossun, LA. We kept it 3 years and during that time more close acquaintances and lasting friendships were formed. Prior to buying his brother’s store, Harold was a TV Repairman for over 40 years and drove a school bus for Lafayette Parish School System over 30 years. You think he met a few people during all those years? We can’t go anywhere without running into someone he and I know from working all those years with the public.
Currently I am working on a part-time, as needed basis in a beautiful shoppe in downtown Lafayette. There I am able to use the French language that I learned from my parents and the 2 years of French I studied from Madame Irene Holmes at Lafayette High. Visitors from many French speaking countries frequent our shoppe and I am able to converse with them and share our Cajun Culture for which our area is so well known.
My husband, Harold Romero, and I just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary a few days ago. We have no children together, but between the two of us, we are the proud parents of 7 grown children. I have 2 sons and a daughter and 5 “beautiful” grandchildren ranging from the age of 5-16 years of age. Harold has 4 children, 3 daughters and a son, several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and even a few great- grandchildren. All but one of our children are married, my oldest son. So we have many daughters-in-law and sons-in-law, as well, to be a part of our wonderful family.
We have done some traveling and have been fortunate enough to visit places that I never dreamed that I would have the opportunity to see and visit in God’s beautiful world. As noted previously, I am extremely proud of our Cajun Culture in Acadiana and we are members of The Scott Jumelage (Twinning) Group. As members we are allowed and encouraged to visit our “Sister Cities” in Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada and St. Aubin near Paris, France. We host them in our homes when they come to visit us and they extend the same courtesy when we visit them. There we are able to “practice” our French and experience their culture. Harold speaks better French than I do. In fact, he taught Cajun French at a Visitor and Cultural Center,The Begnaud House, in Scott for a couple of years. And he never took one French lesson at school. Our French “cousins” are always amazed that our Cajun French Language has survived all these centuries without being a written language. It really does make us proud that we have a part in keeping it alive!!!!
We are looking forward to the Reunion and I want to personally thank all the fellow students who spear-headed this event. I know it wasn’t easy and we are grateful to be the recipients of your hard work on our behalf. See you soon, if the good Lord is willing and the creeks don’t rise!!!! That was a saying that I heard for the first time in my beauty shop from Ms. Inez Rowe , a retired schoolteacher from Hamilton School. (Maybe she taught one or some of you many, many years ago!!!
Bonjour a tous
Diana Gail Landry Romero

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
