Mildred (Millie) Droddy Ritter

After graduation, enrolled at USL - business major/music minor. Married to fellow classmate, Tommy Geer, I began my career in the energy industry as a secretary for a local oil and gas operator. Five years and two children later, we moved to Mississippi. We moved back to Lafayette four months before Camille took out the portion of the Gulf Coast where we had been living. Too close for comfort!

As time passed and children grew and career took off with the aid of evening classes in business law and mineral law, Tommy and I went our separate ways in the mid-70s. In 1977 I was working for Texas Pacific Oil Co. as a Junior Landman and representing the Lafayette District office as a reporter for the corporate magazine. I had the opportunity to move to corporate headquarters in Dallas as assistant to the PR Director.

Two years after the move ('79) I met and married Bill Ritter, the love of my life and a wonderful father to my two boys. I also acquired an older son and a daughter with this union. We celebrated 25 years with a Vows Renewal and Party and have since added another 5 years. Where does the time go? Sometimes I feel like my life is racing away without me. Will include photo from the 25 year celebration. May never look that good again.

Now have a 14-year old granddaughter (what a trip) and a 16-year old step-grandson. Never a dull moment with these two. Nikki and Michael keep everyone hopping. She's a top- notch volleyball player (started first game of Fall Season with 15 unanswered serves); and Michael is on the high-school dive team (Diver of the Year, District; 2nd place Regional, headed for State Meet in Austin).

I'm still working as a Division Order Analyst for small family owned oil and gas operator (11 years). Will be doing "graduated" retirement beginning with April Fools Day. Going to 4 days a week and hope to get to three days by Fall.

Won't discuss the ups and downs and ravages of illnesses and time. You'll see that when you see us. Really looking forward to seeing everyone. I think we'll get matching walking canes for this trip.
