Today's Featured Biography
Jennifer Trimmer Richards
After high school, I met and married a U.S. Navy man. The Navy took us to many great and exciting locations. We have lived in San Diego, CA; Panama City, FL; Indian Head, MD; Ewa Beach, HI; San Francisco, CA; Providence, RI; San Angelo, TX, and now I am currently living in Bloomington, IN.
Along the way, we had 3 children (Lance, who is now 17, Stephanie, who is now 15, and Kristin, who is now 13). As you may have guessed, they were all born in 3 different locations. My husband, Bruce, is off of active duty and is now a civilian working for the U.S. Navy.
My career path took me from being a stay at home Mom while my children were small and my husband was deployed to working in the medical field. I started out as a surgical technologist, then became a nurse working in the operating room as a circulator, to what I currently do, which is teaching nursing at the local community college. I teach full-time and work PRN at a local hospital in the OR.
I do not have much free time between the kids' activities and my work schedule, so hobbies are pretty much on hold until the kids go off to college or move out of the house. I do like to catch a movie at the theater, but that opportunity does not happen very often.
I get back to KC only once or twice a year at the most. My family still resides in the area, but I communicate with them mostly by e-mail or phone.
