Today's Featured Biography
Leslie Smith
After high school I went to Southwest Missouri State in Springfield and made the softball team as a walk on. I couldn’t afford to go back the 2nd year and they wouldn’t give me a scholarship. That first summer after college I took a job with an insurance company that moved to Texas. I didn’t have anything keeping me in Shawnee so I moved to Dallas in 1979. It took me about 5 years but I finally got my first job in law enforcement in South Texas near Corpus Christi where I started as a patrol officer way back in 1984. It’s been a good career. I’ve had my butt kicked a few times, got my head cracked open, and been shot at. Thankfully the only thing hit was my car. I figure I still have a few of my nine lives left. So I moved back to the North Texas area and went to work for a new police department. I stayed for 20 years and retired before my son Bobby was born. I currently work for a city called Little Elm, Texas. It’s about 30,000 and located about 30 miles north of Dallas. My position is Operations Commander and I hold the rank as Captain. My responsibilities include the patrol division, traffic division, marine patrol and jail facilities. I’ve only worked for Little Elm about 4 years, (28 total years in LE) but really like it. I returned back to school and took the long road to a BS degree and thn on to a MS degree.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
