Alexander (Skip) Young III
Skip and Cindy Young -- An Update on Our Life
In 2015 I retired from my small animal practice after nearly 45 years in Friendswood and we moved north about 90 miles to our house on Lake Conroe, where we have resided ever since. Although neither of us are golfers, our current country club community of Bentwater is golf, lake, and family oriented. Having a home on the water has been a real joy for us and although we don't partake of water activities as much as we could we find our "simple lake life" suits us both really well.
Quite a few of our previous friends also found Bentwater or the lake area to their liking for retirement. So, we have had a contingent of "Friendswood North" folks to enjoy. Additionally, this community is a vibrant one with lots of activities and has many really good people from all over the Houston area as well as other places who live here. We've been blessed by developing a lot of new friendships.
We both enjoy participating in a large gourmet group, dining in one another's homes. Much of Cindy's time is occupied with our daughter and two grandgilrls who live within 5 minutes of us.
Additionally she stays busy with a museum book club, Art to Lunch, and gardening.
My days are consumed by bass fishing and music. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 50 and have continued most of the time since. I've recently become enamored with the guitar and am struggling to get these old fingers to cooperate on the fretboard. My guitar passion has grown from one simple starter guitar to a collection of 5 instruments. I'm part of a Bentwater Music Group that consists of about 10 folks who want to stay motivated to keep up their music skills by entertaining each other at a restricted semiannual snack and wine event.
So far Cindy and I have had the good fortune to have had mostly healthy lives. We've endured the life hardships that probably many of you have also experienced with the loss of loved ones, friends, and various blips along the way. We are grateful to still be here, able to enjoy the day-to-day and each other.
We really look forward to visiting with classmates who are able to attend the 60th.
