Today's Featured Biography
Janice Coan Headley
I worked at the IU Kelley School of Business my entire career and retired at the end of 2017. I met my husband Allan there while he was earning his degree. After ten years as the Dean's assistant, I spent the next 30+ years in alumni relations and development. I continue to serve as the administrator and treasurer for the national association of alumni professionals in top-ranked business schools, which my office founded in 2001.
Allan stuck around the Kelley School too and retired in 2020 as its Director of Facilities, after overseeing its 500,000 square feet in two primary buildings and about a half dozen other buildings. We're delighted that our two daughters, who both graduated from IU, still live in Bloomington.
Allan and I have been married since 1975 and enjoy traveling, particularly to the Caribbean to snorkel (St. John, USVI; Cozumel, Mexico; the Puerto Rican islands of Culebra and Vieques; and Bonaire our favorites). We took an Alaskan cruise in 2010, Caribbean cruises in 2013 and 2019, a Mediterranean cruise with four nights in Rome in 2017, and a Northern European cruise with three nights in Amsterdam in 2019. A trip to Ireland in 2012 and one to New Zealand in 2015 are our only other travels to date outside North America. We also have made multiple trips to the Rocky Mountains, New Orleans, San Francisco/Yosemite, Maine, and the Outer Banks. One of our bigger adventures (when we were much younger) was a two-week trip on a Honda 550cc motorcycle to Colorado, Utah, and the Grand Canyon. We now have an extended-van camper and have turned into snowbirds.
