After a year and a half at Illinois Wesleyan University, and then working in the big city (Chicago)for a few years, I moved to California in 1973. I had endured the cold Illinois winters for too many years. I started working in medical records at the local hospitals as a medical librarian and learned clinical coding, which has become my vocation. I was offered a position I couldn't refuse by the principals of a small start up company in Santa Barbara and it has served me well for over 30 years. I work in health care research and have been fortunate to have been able to travel extensively, teach and present research findings in various venues, including teaching physicians in Italy and participating in international conferences. I am an associate editor of the book "Clinical Criteria for Disease Staging" and have published extensively in the field of health information management. I now telecommute for the same company I have been with for 26 years. In 1997 I was elected to serve a three year term on the board of directors of the American Health Information Manangement Association, headquartered in Chicago. But my greatest joy has been to watch my 6 grandchildren grow up. The 3 boys and 3 girls range in age from 20 years to 7 years and most of them now live only 2 miles from me. The oldest, Ryan, is in the Marines, currently in Thailand. Chris, at 18, is going to Virginia Military Institute in the fall on a $180,000 sscholarship! We are so proud of him. Two of the girls are in High School and the two youngest are finishing the 5th and 2nd grades. Since Larry's passing in 2007, I have met a great man, a widower, and we have been together for 4 years and got married Feb 7, 2011. We love to travel, read, watch movies, bike and go camping in our motor home and on 4-wheel drive trips to the desert. Oh, yes, and the occasional trip to a casino is always in our plans!
I retired in January 2013 and am enjoying puttering around the house when we aren't off on an adventure and we plan a cross country trip in the old MH this summer - Chicagoland is one of our many stops on our way to Maine and down the East coast.
I look forward to hearing from some of my EPCHS friends.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
