After graduation I attended The American Academy of Cosmetology and passed the state boards in 1961 and worked at the "Clip and Curl" in downtown AH. Married my high school sweetheart George Suchomski (AHS class of 1959) September of 1962. Purchased our first home in Palatine in June of 1963. Started our family and blessed with four children, moved to a larger home in Palatine.
I was afforded the luxury of being a very active stay at home mom. Having fun fairs for charity with the children of the neighborhood (Remember DJ and the Dirty Dragon for Jerry's kids), puppet shows, pool parties,impromptu lunches,tons of popsicles and Kool Aid; leading Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops for 17 years (hence the camping nickname Dusty), and enjoying having John, Kathleen, Suzanne and Jennifer's friends into our home from first grade through high school and yes even today.
When our youngest graduated from high school I ventured into the real world and worked for an insurance broker as an administrative assistant, became the office manager and retired as a Special Projects Coordinator in marketing overseeing social functions and licensing for the agency. "LOVED IT"
Singing alto in the church choir for 26 years continues to be a joy! I love to draw, read, create new recipes, play bridge, Maj Jong, golf and vacationing.
So here I am the proud grandmother of 23, (they are the love of my life) and continue with many activities that make Grandma's and Grandpa's the best place to be. They have inspired me to begin writing children books. I will be enrolling in a much needed writing class at Harper in the fall.
George and I now enjoy working on our long "bucket lists".
