Today's Featured Biography
Kathleen Scalf McSparen
After graduation, I attended Indian Hills Community College and obtained my ADN degree. I passed RN boards and worked at Ridgewood for a while. I married my first husband, Stan Lanphier and lost my first child while married to him. We later divorced. After working at ORHC on the surgical floor for a year, I moved to Northport, Alabama and worked in a very busy ER for a year. During that time, I corresponded with a good friend in Ottumwa, and after a courtship mostly via letters and phone calls, I moved back to Ottumwa and married Jon McSparen on October 14, 1994.
We have one daughter, Anna Louise.
I have since worked many places as I get tired of the same old routine. For the last 3 1/2 years, I have been employed as an RN case manager at Ottumwa Good Samaritan.
I also homeschool our daughter.
I have a very full and busy life with lots of laughter. We have quite a zoo at our home that keeps us entertained. As of last count, we had 6 cats, 3 ferrets, and a hamster.
