Today's Featured Biography
Sharon Boller Arnold
Sharon Kay Arnold, who went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most. Born on October 7, 1945, Sheri lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and a radiant spirit that brought warmth and comfort to everyone she met.
A 1963 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she later attended seminary. Sharon had worked at Heartland Eye Care in Ottumwa and Albia. She had pastored in Avery, IA and filled the pulpit at various churches.
A proud and devoted pastor, Sharon’s calling to ministry was one of the greatest honors of her life. She served her congregation and community with grace, humility, and an unwavering belief in God’s love. Her spiritual journey was shaped and inspired by her dear friend and mentor, Pastor Lois Williams, whose guidance helped Sharon fully step into her calling. Lois and her daughter Mary-Beth became not only spiritual companions, but beloved family.
Sharon shared a remarkable 40-year love story with her husband, Stephen Arnold. Together, they navigated life’s ups and downs with deep devotion and friendship. One of Stephen’s most treasured memories is their recent Christmas trip to Branson, Missouri, where they explored the town’s charm, shared laughter over cozy dinners, and created joyful memories that will be forever cherished.
She and her husband, Steve were proud parents of three children: Sheri-Dawn Blackburn, Shawn (Angie) Lewis and Tamie (Robert) Reynolds. Her love blossomed through the generations as she became a cherished grandmother to Madyson, Amanda, Jessica, Jordan, Justin, Doug Jr., Christopher, Shaylin, and Matthew and a doting great-grandmother to Ary, Avery, Christine, Cody, Lauren, Violet, Xavier, Jada, Brock, Lillian and Bentley.
Sharon also shared a special bond with her cousin who was like a sister, Betty Lee, whose love and support were constant and enduring. She was deeply proud of her cousin, Wanda Besco, whose presence brought joy to her life and warmth to her heart.
Throughout her life, Sharon was surrounded by a circle of friendship as steadfast as her faith. Her best friend and "sister” of over 60 years, RoseAnn Gordon, was her constant companion through every season. Her childhood friend Lilian Park remained a cherished presence for a lifetime. Paul Wilson also held a special place in her heart, loved as a member of the family.
To know Sharon was to be welcomed, accepted, and deeply loved. She offered guidance, prayer, humor, and wisdom in abundance. Her ministry didn’t stop at the pulpit—it lived in her everyday kindness, her unwavering strength, and her gift for making every soul feel seen.
Sharon leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and enduring love. Though her voice is now still, her message of hope and grace echoes on in the lives she touched. She showed us how to live with purpose, how to lead with love, and how to walk humbly with God.
We are heartbroken, yet grateful—for her life, her leadership, and her endless love. "Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23.
Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 24th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24th, at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Griffith officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Memorials may be made to Whatsoever You Do, Inc.
