I moved to Omaha right after I graduated from Clarke College to pursue my teaching career. I taught two years for Omaha Public Schools at the primary level. Then I transferred to Papillion-Lavista Public schools for the rest of my teaching career. During my time in Papillion I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, worked as a Reading Consultant, and finished my full time teaching as a Reading recovery and Title I teacher. After 39 years of teaching I retired and then did substitute teaching for several years.
Now I enjoy babysitting a couple of my grandchildren. I have 4 grandchildren so far. My oldest daughter, Kerri(41), has 2 daughters, Sylvie 16 and Macie 14. They live in AZ so I don't get to see them often enough. My daughter, Melissa(37), has a girl, Ella 3 1/2, and a boy, Lane almost 2. They live in Omaha so I get to take care of them often. My youngest daughter, Emily(25), is planning to get married, in a year or two, to her boyfriend of almost 4 years.
I enjoy being retired. I spend time with my family, am active at my church, play in my neighborhood Bunco group, walk with my retired friends at the mall, and enjoy dinner out with family and friends.
