Today's Featured Biography
Robert Holz
After high school, I graduated from Loras College in 1964, and the University of Iowa College of Law in 1967. Married Sharon Larson of East Dubuque in 1965. I am an attorney with what is now the Davis Brown Law Firm in Des Moines, specializing in regulated industries, particularly health law and public utility regulation, with an emphasis on telecommunications. Recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers in Health Care and Public Utilities.
Sharon and I have been active in Cursillo and helped instate Marriage Encounter in the Des Moines Diocese. We both have been chairpersons of the Holy Trinity Parish Council and are active in church activities. Sharon was the chair of the parish Board of Education, and past member and chair of the Des Moines Diocese Board of Education. I have been involved with and chaired the Holy Trinity Foundation, Bishop Drumm Foundation, and currently the Mercy Foundation.
Sharon was active in Junior League of Des Moines, and OSACS, an organization assisting underprivileged women. I was chairman of the Des Moines Diocese Priests Sexual Abuse Council, developing and implementing policies and procedures to augment the U.S bishops' directives.
We have two children: Christi Emerson and Kim Johnson, plus three grandchildren, Alexandra, Tom and Jacob. I play tennis and we both play golf, walk and bike. Sharon is also active in art work. We've been blessed!
