Richard Elliott
The business side: (the first 10yrs)
I left Ames in 82, Arrived in Texas working in military Electronics. My first project was working with the top secret stealth F117 fighter. Our teams responsibility was the design of the target and acquisition night vision system used so successfully the gulf war. After that I worked on the Javelin weapon system, a fire and forget technology. Over the last 10 years I have worked my way up from engineering to worldwide exhibition manager and technical operations manager for a consumer electronics product. We developed a new display technology called DLP™. This technology started out as a large venue product that was used in the rock concerts and rental and staging applications. The technology has been refined to the point where it is used in many conference rooms and meeting spaces enabling the worlds smallest projectors.,Two years ago we entered the home market space via HDTV and Home theater projectors. The motion picture industry has adopted this technology as the replacement for film and is currently installed in about 300 theaters worldwide. (DLP™ Cinema) The Oscars, Emmys, and all of the award shows where image quality matters Use our projection technology. It offers many benefits to the traditional mechanical film and other obsolete video technologies.
The family side: (the last 10yrs)
It's private but here's some snippets. My non travel work time is centered around family time. I have two young boys, Logan and Chandler. The boys are extremely busy doing everything, boys are supposed to be doing, no Really, Everything! My lovely wife Kim elected to stay home with the boys, and I think it's the greatest! She is the head of our household (HOH),CEO,CFO, and the "boss", of our little family enterprise. When in Texas do as Texans do, and that means play on the water, with big boy toys. We also support the Disney Empire, and frequent Las Vegas. Since the addition of children and the little pitter-patter of little feet, our regular ski trips to Alta,Utah was reduced to I remember when.... Maybe next fall, everyone should be good to go, and I might be able to get on everyone's outlook calendar. I Hope this read wasn't to boring. I took me an additional 10 years to settle down, unlike the rest of my mates. I was always a technical geek, who skipped English, and others. I had way, way to much fun growing up in IOWA, (I oughta went around). Yawl might have other adjective that could describe me better, but I'll stick with geek.
I hope all is well with you.
On a somber note 9-11 came to our house. My cousin Jason Dahl was the pilot of the ill fated flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania. He left this world doing what he loved best and that was flying.
