Celeste Mayne Crosby

Celeste Mayne's inspiration for pursuing art developed early on when she sat for a charcoal portrait at age six! It was here that she developed a fascination for the human face and took an interest in exploring portrait art.
However, early aspirations to attend art school didn't pan out and for years the artist explored multiple paths unrelated to the field. Nevertheless, the artistic seed was not to be ignored so she began teaching herself!
She drew feverishly as a child, but it wasn't until later that she began to venture into art seriously! Through self-study of old masterworks of art, open figure drawing sessions, and painting workshops she developed enough confidence to pursue a career.
Her creations bring a unique aesthetic to the field, and much of her art is based on her passion for colorful and multi-patterned surface designs.
She also enjoys storytelling and her musings, writing, poetry, and art frequently revolve around her love, respect, and appreciation of nature. Common themes include life cycles, the seasons, aquatic life, florals, cats, and birds. Additional art and writings are autobiographical I Am Nobody's Child, Freestyle, and I Fly; or mysterious The Visitors; and humorous The Card Reader!
An intrigue and love of Asian patterns, style, culture, and art are ingrained in much of her work. Artworks such as Geisha, Mahjong-The Sounds of Sparrows, and The Colorful Island of Honshu are creations of her imagination that bring her perception of the Asian style to life!
The artist also has a deep and spiritual connection with twins and the theory and philosophy of opposites is a recurring theme as the artist regularly mirrors her art!
What the artist's future holds, is to be seen!
She is open to the search!
